EnviroScreen Sustainable solar control: the greener roller blind

Company: Luxaflex

LUXAFLEX is pleased to release EnviroScreen as a cost effective environmentally friendly alternative to high performance SilverScreen. EnviroScreen is available immediately and is offered through the LUXAFLEX Commercial Partner channel to target metallised sunscreen projects in commercial developments.

EnviroScreen is a highly reflective, robust, transparent, metallised fabric, which provides visual and thermal comfort in Roller-blind applications. It is woven in a screen-like construction, but with a clear textile appearance. EnviroScreen’s highly reflective metallised backing can lower heating-and cooling costs substantially & this contributes to a reduction of energy usage in a built environment and ultimately CO2 emissions.

EnviroScreen is woven incorporating a PVC free polyester core that is also formeldhyde free. Although EnviroScreen is designed for commercial office environments it is also an advanced sun screen solution for large glazing and window joinery areas in large residential projects.

EnviroScreen is offered in 6 attractive colours and has the following properties;

  • Polyester weave core
  • 5% weave openness
  • fire resistant
  • manufactured to internationally recognise environmental standards (ISO 14001)
  • formaldehyde & PVC free
  • highly reflective metallised backing which substantially improves solar reflectance performance
  • EnviroScreen is Öko-Tex and Greenguard certified and will therefore contribute significantly to obtaining points in green building rating tools such as LEED, Green Star, Breeam etc.

The range of six colours has been chosen to both complement and enhance both commercial and residential environments with the latest trends in textile colours.

This fabric is exclusively available as part of the LUXAFLEX fabric collection to the Architectural and specification sectors, providing a true GREEN fabric that contributes to sustainability whilst being environmentally responsible.

‘Green’ Flooring a Reality with Rubber

Company: Floorculture

Floorculture rubber flooring ensures that the words ‘sustainability’ and ‘environmentally friendly’ are a reality in your flooring choice, while not sacrificing any performance or maintenance advantages you would expect from a commercial floor covering.

By using eco-compatible production procedures, high quality raw materials, a high percentage of recycled material and being free of PVC, plasticizers and heavy metals, Floorculture rubber floorings are the smart choice when thinking green.

Rubber flooring was once relegated to general utilitarian duties. Available mostly in plain greys and black, it was hidden in back stairways, hallways and utility rooms. Its durability and performance are exceptional, but it just wasn’t ‘pretty’ enough for the public areas of commercial buildings.

Much has changed in the last decade. Manufacturers have introduced smoother profiles in fashionable colours and designs that coordinate with other interior materials and finishes — and rubber flooring’s acceptance has grown exponentially, particularly in critical applications like health care and education, but also in many other high-use commercial environments.

Rubber flooring has gained popularity because its attractive designs and patterns are compatible with today’s architectural trends without sacrificing performance, sustainability or cost. More importantly, rubber flooring is durable, contributes to improved indoor air quality (IAQ) and is environmentally friendly.

Floorculture proudly represents in New Zealand the Indelval and Capri ranges of rubber flooring, which are just part of its range of innovative commercial flooring solutions.

The iconic Karbon kitchen sink mixer from Kohler

All that AND excel in water conservation!

Kohler’s revolutionary articulated Karbon mixer tap, inspired by lighting and construction equipment, ticks all these boxes.

Its articulated joints enable precision positioning; a sleek, deck-mounted joystick ensures easy grip and precise temperature and flow control; a choice of forceful spray and laminar water flow options are accessed at the touch of a button; and it can be positioned exactly where it is needed, where it can remain becoming the focal point of the kitchen. AND it has a 5 star WELS rating!

Interior and exterior become one

Company: Firth Industries

When Sharon Spence, Corporate GM Human Resources for Fletcher Building and husband Tony Martin, Opus Architecture – Sharon’s husband and the project’s architect – wanted to create a second living space for their growing teenage family they looked to explore product options from Fletcher Building companies which included designer concrete from Firth.

“Bernice Cumming, Architectural Manager from Firth, had been into our office to update us with what is available in the way of colours, pebble options and finishes for concrete,” said Tony. “We also wanted to exploit the thermal mass properties of concrete so she worked with us on colours and finishes and I have to say we are really happy with the final result.”

“Tony and Sharon’s concrete floor is a special blend of Awatoto pebble – 16m and 10mm with a small amount of fines and Elements – 08 ThunderCloud – for the colour,” says Bernice. “It was then up to Justin Kidd from Total Technical Services Auckland to create these amazing finishes.”

“We polished the internal floor to 3000 grit and applied a mineral based preservation system to enhance and protect the floor,” explains Justin. “For the exterior we lightly scuffed the concrete with a 50 grit resin bond diamond abrasive then acid washed and applied a sealer which makes it easy to clean, whilst maintaining the slip resistance and natural appeal of the concrete.”

In summertime the interior and exterior of Tony and Sharon’s new extension become one with full width sliding doors. The cantilevered steps and patio slab out over the pool give a sense of mass and are visually intriguing. The overall result is a beautiful, functional space for this Auckland family.

Marmox Insulation Boards

Company: Marmox New Zealand

In these energy-conscious times, people are looking for home heating that’s highly efficient as well as comfortable to live with.

Undertile and undercarpet heating are popular choices, but a significant amount of heat can be absorbed by the floor below. The good news is that Marmox Insulation Boards allow you to create an underfloor system that directs the heat upwards into the room. Laid on top of existing boards or new floors before tiling and carpet laying, they provide an ideal base for cost-effective underfloor heating.

By laying Marmox between the concrete slab or wooden flooring and the heating system, you ensure energy is directed upwards instead of being dispersed through the concrete slab or floorboards. When used with a quality timer/thermostat, Marmox makes undertile/undercarpet heating more efficient – you’ll notice the difference in the power bills.

  • Acts as a thermal barrier and significantly reduces heat loss to the substrate.
  • Easy to work with and install into new and existing building projects.
    • 1374037031_Tick   over concrete using a flexible tile adhesive, similar to installing large tiles.
    • 1374037031_Tick   over timber with glue and screw gun
  • Removes the need for tile and slate underlay, provided the sub-floor is structurally sound and flat.
  • Completely waterproof and will not absorb moisture, making it ideal for bathrooms and wetrooms.
  • Available in 6mm, 10mm and 20mm.

Switch on to Colour with Vynco-Fusion

Company: Vynco Fusion

The Vynco engineering team has worked closely with local interior designers, architects and electrical contractors to develop Vynco-Fusion – an innovative range of switches and sockets that combines engineering excellence with architectural styling. Designers and architects can now choose to specify this stylish, slimline range of switchgear to complement the colour and styling of a room – for a cost that is similar to some standard, older wall fittings.

Vynco-Fusion cover plates can be painted to match any Resene colour, to complement your splashback or wall colour. Plates can then be clipped off and replaced as colour schemes change, helping to future-proof your project. An additional film is moulded into the cover plate, which provides resistance against scratches and chemicals.

Vynco-Fusion has been designed, engineered and tested in NZ, to NZ/Australian standards. Vynco-Fusion products fit to any standard flush box and are retrofittable in most homes. All products in the Vynco-Fusion range come with a 5 year warranty.
