Company: Colt Products and Systems
The recently completed Devonport Library was designed by Athfield Architects. When it came to specifying ventilation, Colt Products and Systems were the obvious choice.
Nestled amongst the palm trees with views out to the harbour, this beautifully crafted library pavilion incorporates floor to ceiling Coltlite glazed natural ventilators for both natural light and ventilation. Coltlite’s European high standard of craftsmanship supports the light airy aesthetic, without detracting from the views, and provides controllable natural ventilation throughout.
The specified control system modulates the louvre blades, to regulate the airflow by varying the degrees of open/closed. The CLT Louvre system, controlled by the BMS, also allows for automatic control for changing weather conditions and connects to a rain, wind and temperature sensor for natural ventilation.
Of particular interest to the designers was the reliability backed up by extensive testing to EN 12101-2 as a dual purpose Smoke Heat and Exhaust Ventilator, backed by CE marking.
Coltlite ticked all the boxes for reliability and with the outcome – naturally ventilated atmosphere that has surpassed expectations.
