With its ‘go anywhere, do anything’ credentials, Fastwrap Wall Underlay was an obvious choice for the Kapiti Mitre10 Mega Charity house project for the Kapiti Youth Achievement Trust. Supplier Paul Industries jumped at the chance to support this community initiative.

“It’s such an exciting and worthwhile project” enthused Ben Lloyd, GM Sales & Marketing for Paul Industries. “The home will be built by volunteers using donated materials and expertise then sold at auction, with the proceeds going to the Kapiti Youth Achievement Trust. It will also provide an opportunity for students at Whitireia and the general public to improve their understanding of current building codes and some of the newer products on the market.”

Award winning architectural practise, AD Architecture, who designed the home and are overseeing the build, felt that Fastwrap Wall Underlay was a natural fit for the project. “We use Fastwrap Wall as the ‘go to’ synthetic wall underlay for all our projects” said Peter Davis, Director of AD Architecture.

“We see it as a specify-and-forget product because it’s appraised for use in all areas and all applications – we know we can use it on any job, in any location”.

Other Paul Industries products to be used on the project include Fastwrap FlameSpec Roof Underlay, Kiwimesh Roof Safe Mesh and Pauloid DPC.

The charity house project uses an innovative modular design by AD Architecture and has the advantage of being fully transportable. “Portability is a key element for this project as the owner can simply pick the completed house up and move it to a site of their choice. This meant that specifying products that will stand up to all NZ conditions, including the highest wind zones was essential” added Peter.

The modular design concept means that additional rooms can easily be added at a later stage and reflects AD Architecture’s commitment to providing smaller, smarter housing solutions. There is also careful consideration given to living comfort and energy efficiency and it’s expected the home will rate well with Homestar.
